KAMPHAENG PHET, Thailand – Police have arrested four Thai men after a Chinese woman abducted from a hotel in Bangkok escaped from a car while being taken to Mae Sot district in Tak province on the Myanmar border, fleeing with her hands still bound with cable ties as they passed through Kamphaeng Phet province.

The woman, who had a Chinese passport and appeared to have been assaulted with swollen lips and bruises on her body, escaped from the black Nissan Teana in tambon Nai Muang of Muang district, prompting a police response.
Kamphaeng Phet police followed the suspects’ car and stopped it in tambon Lan Dokmai of Muang district, arresting two men identified as Somkiat, 41, and Kittiporn, 24, both natives of Mae Sot district.

Two other suspects fled to avoid arrest but were later apprehended at a temple in tambon Lan Dokmai on Monday evening, identified as Suchart, 41, and Kittisak, 22.

Police believe the gang had intended to take the woman to Mae Sot district and then possibly to Myanmar, with the investigation continuing to determine the full extent of the kidnapping operation and whether others were involved.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about cross-border criminal activity and the targeting of foreign nationals in abduction schemes, as authorities work to strengthen measures to protect tourists and residents from such crimes. The victim is receiving medical care and assistance as police continue their investigation.
